Sonoma Vineyards – Free Self-Guided Tours

Starting in January 2010, for the first time, you can take a stroll through the vines at several Sonoma wineries. These complimentary self-guided vineyard tours are about a mile long and are appropriate for all ages.

Along the way, you can find out what goes on in a vineyard during the year and learn about sustainable farming practices. Hand-outs are available to guide you along marked paths and point out items of interest, such as wine making equipment and crush pads. The walking tours will lead you to the tasting room where you can indulge in a wine tasting for only $5, or for free at Mauritson. In time, other wineries may join the Sonoma Vineyard Adventures program,  initiated by the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission.

WHAT’S THE DEAL: Free self-guided vineyard tours.

WHEN: Starting in January 2010. In case of weather conditions, call before visiting.

WHERE: Currently at four wineries …

Take a walk though private Sonoma County Vineyards any day of the year. A Sonoma Vineyard Walk guide will join you in the vineyards and share information with you about the terroir, the vines, and the wines as you walk. The walks include lunch and two tastings. You can sign up on line today and take a walk tomorrow. You can even bring your dog! This is a great way to actively explore and get out there “in” Sonoma Wine Country. The walks cost $125 per person but if you let us know you heard about the walks via Bay Area on the Cheap, you will receive a 10% Discount. Bring a group of 10 or more, and the price is reduced to $105 per person for a day of vineyard walking, lunch, and wine tasting.
