SF International Dragon Boat Festival: Free

The San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival at Treasure Island (September 17 – 18, 2011) is the largest competitive dragon boat festival in the United States. The event hosts more than 110 dragon boat teams and 3,500 dragon boat paddlers from across North America who will race the 500 and 300 meter courses.

The Festival also features dance and music performances including Taiko drumming, Tai Chi and acrobatic martial arts demonstrations, Hawaiian / Tahitian dance and music, Hip Hop and Chinese Folk Dance, dragon and lion dances, and award-winning magic shows. The kids can play in the Dragon Land activity pavilion. Sunday is an extra special family day complete with character and mascot appearances.

WHAT’S THE DEAL: SF International Dragon Boat Festival is a FREE event.

WHEN: Saturday & Sunday, September 17 & 18, 2011, 10am to 5pm (Racing Hours 8am- 5pm). Kick off with traditional blessing of the festival on Saturday at noon.

WHERE: Treasure Island (California Avenue & Avenue D) San Francisco, CA 94130. (Races in the cove between Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island.)
