The Second Annual Lakefest, a summertime street fair and community festival happening August 1st and 2nd, will draw some 20,000 people to Oakland’s Lakeshore Avenue business district.
You’ll find the usual fun festival food, live entertainment and activities for the entire family, including 100 artisan and vendor booths, a live music stage, gourmet food booths, a kid’s fun zone, art, street performers, the Lakeshore Merchant Sidewalk Sale, a Green Living Expo and, on Saturday, the ever-popular Grand Lake Farmers Market.
This year check out the “Hood Games by tha Lake” on Sunday, August 2nd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This youth-oriented urban sporting event turns Splash Pad Park into a skate park, with live music provided by Youth Movement Records artists and artists from Roots and Branches’ Roots & Branches Sound System Vol. 3 — for which this event marks the official record release party.
