Update: Thank you all for entering. It has been so much fun reading your comments. The two winners have been chosen by a random number generator. I wish you all could win!
Back by popular demand, the June 2010 giveaway is sponsored by the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
THE PRIZE: Two people will win a pair of tickets each to California Academy of Sciences AND a copy of the new Cal Academy picture book, by Jean Marzollo, illustrated by Laura Regan, and published by Sleeping Bear Press.
TO ENTER: Leave your Cal Academy Comment at the end of this post. (As long as you use the words California Academy of Sciences, Cal Academy, or simply CAS, you’re in. (The two winners will be notified by 5pm on Monday, June 7.)
ABOUT THE BOOK: This is the new children’s hardcover picture book about the Academy’s own wetsuit-wearing penguin Pierre. How cute is that?
“When Pierre, an African penguin living at the California Academy of Sciences, begins to lose his feathers, the zoo staff is at a loss as to what to do. The lack of feathers causes Pierre to lose warmth, making him afraid to swim in the zoo pool. And the other penguins start to shy away, giving Pierre the ‘cold’ shoulder. Unfortunately, heaters and medications fail to correct the situation.
But one rainy day, inspiration strikes a biologist named Pam. While walking her dog in the rain, Pam notes that her pet wears a raincoat. Could a “raincoat,” or wet suit, help Pierre?
A tiny neoprene wet suit is designed especially for Pierre. But will it work?
Told in rhyme by noted I SPY author Jean Marzollo, this true story of veterinary ingenuity charmingly comes to life.”
CHEAP TIP: If you don’t win, you can always download Skip-The-Line tickets to California Academy of Sciences and save a dollar.

I’ve heard a lot about Cal Academy but never been there.
California Academy of Sciences ROCK!! Love the Philippines coral reef which houses more than 2 thousand fish & of course, the penguin feeding time…both worth a trip to CAL Academy! Since then, the penguins on their blog is my fav tv show. They have an early bed time, check them out. They sleep on their bellies!!
How exciting, would love to get the tics to CAS!!
While visiting the California Academy of Sciences I played “follow me” with a lovely penguin. He followed my hand back and forth as a waved in in front of the glass. I’d love to go back and visit my friend!

I’d love to take my brother out to the California Academy of Sciences! We’d especially be enthralled by the “Living Roof”–it seems like something taken out of a sci-fi story!
Of course, he’d probably go off into the planetarium and star-gaze and think about billions and billions of stars while I would go off to the extreme mammal exhibit and look at all the specimens…and then we’d probably meet up again to look at the giant octopus and water exhibits (the common point of interest, although we both like learning pretty much any new things).

I remember going to the California Academy of Sciences as a kid and was so happy my children could enjoy the same experience and awe 30 years after me. Even now that they are grown, they fondly remember so many of the exhibits. My husband and I just brought our youngest daughter for her 4th birthday this year and her older brother and sisters had lots to tell her about what they remember and enjoyed the most. Thanks for being there!
CAS is cool
I would love to see Pierre being warmed wearing his custom raincoat. I have not yet been to California Academy of Sciences and look forward to visiting soon.
I’m a CAS Member and I’ve visited dozens of times since the re-opening. One of these daze I am going to work at the California Academy of Sciences–only they don’t know it yet. I see myself as being the host of the Shows presented at the Planetarium. “Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to The Planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences. . .” I am retiring soon and will then have the time to pursue this dream–a dream that I’ve had since the re-opening of The Academy–one of the most fascinating places on this planet.
Sincerely–Allen Terry
Future CAS employee

The California Academy of Sciences was one of favorite places to go when I was growing up. Now I’m a mom with two kids of my own and have never gotten the chance to take them. Though I’ve been abke to make excuses as to why we haven’t quite made it there yet, I’m running out. My seven year old son is madly obsessed with Penguins and has even talked about wanting become a filmaker when he grows up and traveling the world to film movies about Penguins. I know he would love to see the Penguins at CAS, especially since he’s visited the Cal Academy website more times than I could count to see the them….

We went just after the new facility opened and it was too crowded. Our kids loved it. Looking forward to returning on a non-weekend day
I have ALWAYS wanted to visit the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco but have not been able to get there yet!! These kind of exhibits intrigue me–I’m like a kid in a candy store!!
