If you live in San Francisco or the East Bay, you can get a “Safe and Sober” Free Cab Ride Home on certain holidays, courtesy of Berg Injury Lawyers. Next up is New Year’s Eve 2011.
The Safe and Sober Cab Ride Home program now has a cap of $35. That should cover most rides, but you may have to make up the difference for long rides home.
Safe and Sober will be available for the following cities.
- Alameda, Oakland & Berkeley: For a free ride home within Alameda, Berkeley, and Oakland city limits, call Veterans Cab at (800) 281-4488. Veterans Cab can provide rides home from the East Bay to San Francisco, but not from San Francisco to the East Bay.
- San Francisco: For a free ride home within the city of San Francisco, call Luxor Cab at (415) 282-4141.
- Sacramento: For a ride within Sacramento, call Yellow Cab Company of Sacramento at (916) 444-2222. Patrons must be picked up at a restaurant, hotel, or bar within Downtown Sacramento to qualify for a free ride. Rides home must be within Sacramento. Berg Injury Lawyers will cover the first $30 for cab rides. Patrons must pay any cab fare that exceeds $30.

There’s actually a cap of $35 on all the rides on New Year’s Eve. That should cover most rides, but people need to be aware that if their ride exceeds $35, they’ll have to pay the difference.
