If you live in San Francisco or Sacramento, you can get a “Safe and Sober” Free Cab Ride Home on certain holidays, courtesy of Berg Injury Lawyers. The Safe and Sober Cab Ride Home program now has a cap of $35. That should cover most rides, but you may have to make up the difference for long rides home.
The free rides are for adults who have been drinking or who need a safe way home from a bar or restaurant to a residence (not to other drinking locations).

- Sacramento: Call Yellow Cab Company of Sacramento at (916) 444-2222. Patrons must be picked up at a restaurant, hotel, or bar within Downtown Sacramento to qualify for a free ride.
There’s actually a cap of $35 on all the rides on New Year’s Eve. That should cover most rides, but people need to be aware that if their ride exceeds $35, they’ll have to pay the difference.
