UPDATE: Birth of Impressionism will be open even later over Labor Day Weekend: Friday and Saturday until 11pm (last entry 9:30), and Sunday 10pm (last entry 8:30pm).

If you haven’t been to the de Young Museum lately, here’s how to check it out for less. First, the museum is free on every first Tuesday of the month, and if you have a BofA card, the de Young is free the first weekend of the month as part of the Museums On Us promo.

For an extra fee, you can enjoy the new “Birth of Impressionism” exhibit. Why is that a deal? Each ticket to Birth of Impressionism includes complimentary, same-day admission to Impressionist Paris: City of Light, a companion exhibition at the Legion of Honor. Plus, on Thursday nights the museum offers a special price that includes this special exhibit.

“The world of Impressionism comes to San Francisco this summer with an exhibition of 100 incomparable Impressionist masterworks drawn from the collection of the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. Highlighted will be paintings by 36 artists including Monet, Manet, Renoir, Cezanne and Degas.”

DEAL 1: Free Days at de Young Museum Free Days on the first Tuesdays of every month.

DEAL 2: Free admission to de Young Museum as part of the Bank of America “Museums on Us” days, free on the first weekends of every month for the next few months (if not longer.) Just show your Bank of America ATM, credit or check card with a photo ID.

Now through September 2, 2010, featuring reduced admission fees and extended viewing hours for Birth of Impressionism until 8:45 pm, and a French prix fixe menu in the café. Adults $16, youth $10.
