Contemporary Jewish Museum Dec. 25 – Free

sendak_lgNot into all the visions of sugarplums flouncing around the blog lately? Then let the Wild Rumpus Begin. On December 25, you’ll be welcomed into the Contemporary Jewish Museum FREE. You, your family, and your wolfish friends can make like Maurice Sendak and go where the wild things are all day — or at least from 11am to 4pm.

“Young and old alike will enjoy admission free-access to San Francisco’s only open-for-business museum that day and get a chance to explore exhibitions like There’s a Mystery There: Sendak on Sendak, Jews on Vinyl and As it is Written: Project 304,805.

And just for families, the Museum hosts a special wild rumpus of fun and free activities inspired by Maurice Sendak’s monstrous tales. Wild Things characters will be there to greet (or eat!) you as you step into the shadows to create your own shadow puppet. Behind a 10-foot screen, you can put on your shadow show or shake your rumpus to the beat of the music and get silly. You can also decorate your own canvas book bag to take home and see Sendak movies on the big screen.”

WHAT’S THE DEAL: CJM Free Day — San Francisco’s only open-for-business museum on Dec. 25.

WHEN: Friday, December 25, 2009, 11am – 4pm.

WHERE: Contemporary Jewish Museum, 736 Mission Street (between Third and Fourth streets) San Francisco, CA 94103.

  1. [...] Hang out at the Contemporary Jewish Museum for free. On December 25, 2009, admission to CJM is free. They have all kinds of fun activities planned around their current exhibits. For example, along with the exhibit “There’s a Mystery There: Sendak on Sendak”  CJM is hosting a special wild rumpus of fun and free activities inspired by Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are.
