Cal Academy Nightlife: Skip-The-Line Tickets
If you haven’t been to the California Academy of Sciences Nightlife parties yet, you should give it a try. It’s a big hit with San Francisco locals. Why? You get to hang with the party animals and the museum animals at the same venue. Admission is only $12 (almost half the daytime admission) and when you buy tickets here, you can skip the line at the front gate. (Not available on the Cal Academy website.) This is a huge bonus because the lines often wrap around the building.

California Academy of Sciences “Nightlife” recently won the 2010 SFWeekly award: “Best Place for a First Date.”Nightlife gives you access to every Cal Academy exhibit, including the new Extreme Mammals Exhibit. If you’re looking for discount tickets, you can get $5 off the VIP Nightlife Tour tickets (plus $2 in fees), and you can skip ALL the lines, including the lines to the Planetarium and Rain Forests.
Recently I was sent two comp tickets to the California Academy of Sciences Nightlife VIP Tour, so I can tell you first hand that this is a great way to experience Nightlife and get a VIP behind-the-scenes look at the place.
As a Nightlife VIP your drinks and snacks are included, you get the best seats in the Planetarium, and you can wander around the place without tripping over strollers (Nightlife is adults only.) The living roof looks amazing under the stars (especially after a glass of complimentary wine). You can talk with the researchers as they work on their science projects, and ogle the gems in the private collection.

WHEN: Nightlife is every Thursday, 6pm – 10pm. It sells out fast, though, so buy tickets well in advance.
